afflicted. At auction it is seen less than 1/3 as often as the common dates but it is still not rare. High grades are more difficult to locate due to the issues with copper. There have been six PCGS/NGC MS-69s offered over the last 2 years, but 3 of those were offered by one of the official USA importers at fairly high premiums. One might also note that the design of this date is unique with its grid background. It is often found with mirror fields and is a handsome coin as such. (back)
